Flippity
Flippity allows you to use a Google Sheet to create digital flashcards, quiz shows, name pickers, memory games, word searches, crossword puzzles, bingo games, hangman games, madlibs, and more. For more information, please read the document or watch the video:Flippity Walkthrough (document - printable)
In the two walkthroughs, I only showed a sample of what you can use Flippity for. Please look through the www.flippity.net website and familiarize yourself with all it offers!
***Note*** There is also an add-on for Google Sheets from Flippity. I have experimented both with the add-on and the website, and I
prefer the website. This is a personal preference***
FlipGrid
Flipgrid allows you to pose a question online to your students and have them respond with a video using their Chromebooks, Smartphone, or tablet/ipad. We used FlipGrid in the summer to record our thoughts during sessions as well as our welcome back to students. Quite a few teachers in our district have been utilizing this program with their students. Laura Stupack, a first grade teacher in our lower elementary campus, has used FlipGrid to record her students reading their Dolch flashcards as well as their weekly reading story. Coach Marty Lee from the high school used FlipGrid at the beginning of the year with his students as they created videos about procedures. Ms. Candace Pierce, a sixth grade teacher at the middle school, used FlipGrid with her students as a way to assess prior knowledge of a book they were about to read. The options are endless! If you have used FlipGrid, please add a comment to this post to share your ideas!
FlipGrid is more than just for inside the classroom. You can also create a FlipGrid question to send out to the parents of your students! For example, send out the question, "What do you wish teachers knew about your child?" and parents can respond using their device!

EDPuzzle
EDPuzzle allows you to insert questions directly into a YouTube video! Even better, that video is now "outside" of YouTube, so no ads or trending videos. Don't want to watch the entire video? No problem -- clip the exact portion of the video you want to use! It links automatically with your Google Classroom to make it quick and easy to assign videos to your class. Best of all -- wait for it -- you can set the questions to SELF-GRADE!!!EDPuzzle Walkthrough (document - printable)
Once you start using any of these programs, you may run into questions about how to use the wonderful features. Call me at extension 1035 or email me at tpoolson@prc.k12.ms.us, or set up an appointment for me to walk through the content with you in a department meeting. I will be glad to sit down with you, answer any questions you may have, even plan with you! As always, I am happy to visit your classroom on the day you use the software to offer technical assistance or moral support. Enjoy the experience!
